A side project of my own. Mixing some photorealistic techniques along with some more surreal ideals of my own

I have always liked the Schulz-Neudamm poster for Metropolis (1926, Fritz Lang)I really like the Art Deco style that was used in posters of the era and I am working on a body of work that will reflect that.

I am considering creating the final image in 3D, but nothing is ever set in stone.

One thing I really wanted to achieve with this sketch was a feeling of inner light, that there is a kind of life in this obviously mechanical statue.

 

This thumbnail is taken from the seat or throne that the figure is placed in. I wanted to make anything that is associated with the statue/robot seem made of interlocking plates in the same way the figure is.

This is a detail from the robots face. I put in these veins or vents to give more shape to where the cheekbones would be. The added factor is that its a very mechanical element to include.
