Playdough 'Colours'

"Playdough. Monthly Breakbeat @ The Mine, University Of Leeds"

Playdough is a collective of DJs that put on a breakbeat and drum and bass night once a month. I was asked to create some flyers and posters for this event. The brief was to create a look and feel that got across the idea of a fun, upbeat sense.

I wanted to make the logo appear as though it were on a stage, brightly lit and very colourful. The text logo was taken in to 3dmax and treated as thought each letter were self illuminated. A lightsource was placed in the centre of each letter emitting a light the same colour as the letter.

Even though the letters are all rendered in 3d, I removed all the shadows. This goes a long way towards creating a softer edge to the model while still allowing reflections and shadows to be cast.
