"I am
kino-eye, I am a mechanical eye. I, a machine, show you the world
as only I can see it.

Dziga Vertov"
I
like designing the interface between information and user. This is
one of the mobile phones available in Japan; I like the mix of shapes
linking the lens of the camera and the screen next to it. It was the
start point to this design which incorporates a lens at the centre.
This
is the centre lens detail. I wanted to have a kind of magnification
device at the centre of the larger lens in the middle of the navigation
control. Information would appear on the lens and specific points
would be magnified.
The
mechanical slide. I felt that the device needed a precise viewfinder
that would give the user a feel of control. Movement of the slide
in the centre of the toothed wheel would allow text to move under
the main lens and be magnified by the smaller lens in the middle.
Up
and Down buttons would allow the user to move between pages at will.
Also would control the information that would appear on the main section
areas to the far right.
I
have imagined that this image would be very industrial in look. All
iron and steam with oily surfaces. How ever this is a very difficult
design to use as a GUI and will take some heavy modification. It will
first end up as a finished graphical piece.
