in·can·des·cence
(nkn-dsns)
n.
1. The emission of visible light by a hot object.
2. The light emitted by an incandescent object.
3. A high degree of emotion, intensity, or brilliance.
Incandescence
is a music side project by Paul Priest. "I really like the
word [incandescence] itself, it seems to fit a variety of mood, whether
the music is dark and solitary or bright and lively. Flames are intriguing
and hopefully this project may prove to be over the years."

Paul
asked me if I would produce a website for this project and in response
I created this graphic as a start point.
Everything here was created within Photoshop, no external media was
added. The housing for the glass viewport was built up using layer
effects and manipulating edges for shadow or contrast. I also used
drop shadows to interact with each layer and give a greater feeling
of reality and depth whilst still giving a super-realistic look and
feel akin to airbrush work.
I
am very pleased with how the glass in the viewport looks. I have really
managed to capture the feel of thick glass refracting the light and
therefore the image beneath. The light reflections were built up using
many layers of white. Each with an increasing opacity and a decreasing
area.
I
wanted the grill to give the appearance of something behind the viewport
and to add more of an industrial look and feel to the image.
"Incandescence
is an electro project that has no pigeonholing, over the course of
xx amount of releases in the future, there will be everything from
doom ambience to more upbeat, odd, twisted, jazzy noise and beats.
- Paul"
The
green of the image is mainly a place holder while I got the design
finished. Here is a version of the viewport which has been coloured.
This is by no means the finished colours but illustrates the differences
that colouring the image will make.
